This class offers expert knowledge on the DS6000 and DS8000 series through a mixture of theory and practice. The students learn the architecture and management of the DS6000 and DS8000 storage systems, the hardware components, logical structure and the virtualization concepts. There are many exercises to teach the students the process of configuring the storage system using the DS Storage manager and the DS command line interface. The hands-on labs will also cover the configuration of host attachments for Unix / Windows and the configuration of copy services. The lab exercises will be done on a simulator but also on a real DS8000 storage system.

  • Describe the DSCLI interface installation and setup.
  • Describe the DS Storage Management GUI interface installation and setup.
  • Describe how to configure the system with the DS Storage Management GUI.
  • Do administration tasks with the DS Storage Management GUI.
  • Do administration tasks with the DS Storage Management CLI.
  • Understand the functionality of the DS Copy Services.
  • Configure a host attachment for open systems on the storage system.
