In this workshop you will learn to use the HMC commandline and its parameters. We will build a basic script based menu to document your LPAR setup, extract the LPAR setup information to easily redeploy your LPAR in case of a disaster and to use this setup to clone these LPARs with new or changed profile data. You will get an overview of the HMC functions available and how to get access to those functions using the HMC command line tools.

Zielgruppe  

This is an intermediate workshop for Infrastructure and AIX system administrators who want automate and document their environment, prepare their environment for restructuring and disaster recovery. AIX system administrators who cannot use the HMC WEB insterface and want to automate the use of the HMC command line.

Voraussetzungen  

You Should have:

  • Scripting knowledge (KSH or perl) - the workshop is based on KSH scripts but can easily be transfered to using perl scripting.
  • Sripting skills can be obtained through the following course (or equivalent experience):
    • Korn and Bash Shell Programming (AL32D3DE)or
    • Perl-Programmierung 1: Einführung (AU22D2DE) or
    • equivalent experience
