SONAS Schulung: SONAS in a file services environment
Scale Out Network Attached Storage (SONAS) is designed to provide a super-scalar, clustered scale out NAS offering to manage vast repositories of information in enterprise environments requiring very large capacities, high levels of performance and high availability. The system supports multiple petabytes of storage and billions of files in a single file system (Global Name Space). Data access to the system from client computers is provided using industry standard network file protocols including NFS, CIFS, HTTP and FTP. In addition, the system supports traditional NAS features and functions like snapshots, quotas (user, group, and fileset level), synchronous and asynchronous replication of data, integration with user directory servers (such as Microsoft Active Directory, LDAP and Samba PDC), TSM integration and automated Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) across internal storage pools as well as external TSM storage pools (HSM). This course will introduce the participants to SONAS and educate them on how to configure and use the product in a file services environment. The course will consist of theory sessions followed by hands-on excercises where participants will have to opportunity to experiment with the functions of the product.
